Other Trainers
Fahey, Richard |
Age: 50 |
Background: The Irishman has built a powerful operation at Manor House Farm near Malton in North Yorkshire, sending out more than a century of winners in each of the last nine years. He recorded a personal best tally of 235 wins in 2015. Born in Nigeria and raised in County Meath, Ireland, he rode 108 winners as a jockey on the flat and over jumps, and was joint champion conditional rider for the 1988/89 jumps season. Fahey quit the saddle in 1992 to concentrate on his livery yard near Malton before commencing training under a dual-purpose licence in 1993. His first of four Group 1 wins came in 2010 when Wootton Bassett won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp, although his first Pattern race success came at Royal Ascot in 2000 with Superior Premium in the G2 Cork & Orrery Stakes, now the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes. In 1997 he enjoyed a G1 win over fences with Noyan in the Heineken Gold Cup at Punchestown, Ireland. Other notable wins include: Darley July Cup (2012 Mayson), Prix Maurice de Gheest (2014 Garswood), Prix Jacques le Marois (2016 Ribchester). |
