Richard Fahey |
Age: 58 |
Background: The Irishman has built a powerful operation at Manor House Farm near Malton in North Yorkshire, saddling over 60 Group and Listed winners in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Canada. He recorded a personal best tally of 235 wins in 2015. Born in Nigeria and raised in County Meath, Ireland, he rode 108 winners as a jockey on the flat and over jumps, and was joint champion conditional rider for the 1988/89 jumps season. Fahey quit the saddle in 1992 to concentrate on his livery yard near Malton before commencing training under a dual-purpose licence in 1993. His first Group 1 wins came in 2010 when Wootton Bassett won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp, although his first Pattern race success came at Royal Ascot in 2000 with Superior Premium in the G2 Cork & Orrery Stakes, now the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. His recent notable wins include: Commonwealth Cup (2022 Perfect Power), Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp (2022 The Platinum Queen) and Middle Park Stakes (2021 Perfect Power) and Prix Morny (2021 Perfect Power). |
